“I met Steve Strange, Boy George, Marilyn, and others in 1980 while I was working as an assistant for a fashion/advertising photographer in London. He was doing a story on the New Romantics and was taking hard-edged studio portraits of them. He managed to sell the story to the German magazine Stern, but they also wanted some club shots, so I was sent to the Blitz Club, which was okayed by Steve Strange because I wasn’t a New Romantic!” – Andrew Holligan.
