Tony – “This is one of my first ever photographs – two girls on their BMX bikes in the Lenton suburb of Nottingham. They just caught my eye in the street and were happy having their picture taken. It has a unique innocence about it that encapsulates the sense of freedom at the time.”
Photographer Tony Davis grew up on Nottingham’s Clifton Estate during the 1960s and 1970s. After documenting his home town of Nottingham, Tony was offered a place of the prestigious documentary photography course in Newport, Wales.
Tony captured the spirit of the 90s rave scene around the Midlands, documenting legendary nights held by Nottingham’s DiY free-party collective and at much loved venues such as The Kool Kat, Venus and The Eclipse in Coventry. He has also photographed the many musicians and Djs that came to prominence during the era.
Tony passion for football has led him to documented football culture from the 1990s.
Since being featured as part of The British Culture Archive, Tony has had his 90s Rave images published by renowned publishers Café Royal books.
