Chris Hunt

In 1974 photographer Chris Hunt documented the lives of working class families in Beeton Grove, Longsight. A small terraced street just a couple of miles from Manchester city centre.

Chris was fascinated by his neighbours – a diverse mix of English, Irish, Pakistani and Cypriot families. Chris approached everyone on the street with a request to photograph and interview them about their everyday lives. Chris not only photographed them in their houses, but also in and around the community, their places of work and nearby pubs in Manchester and neighbouring city of Salford.

Chris has had his work published by Bluecoat Press in recent years and now for the first time the images are available as archival prints from British Culture Archive.
