About the Photographer | Chris Hunt
Chris Hunt produced an important body of work when he documented the daily lives of working class families in Beeton Grove, Longsight – a small terraced street just a couple of miles from Manchester city centre. As well as the portraits and images of family members in their homes, Chris captured them at their places of work, out shopping, and in the nearby pubs and social clubs of an industrial 1970s Manchester, and neighbouring city of Salford.
As well as his work in Manchester, Chris also completed his series ‘Out of the Darkness’ documenting Wolverhampton in 1975. This body of worked focused on everyday life in and around the city, including the Mander Centre and nearby arcades.
Chris Hunt’s work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions throughout the UK and is part of the BCA touring exhibition ‘Life in the North – 1970s-1980s.’
