About the Photographer | Peter J Walsh

As a photographer for Manchester’s City Life Magazine and the NME during the late 1980s and 1990s – Peter J Walsh was immersed in Manchester’s club scene, being one of few who documented the UK’s Acid House explosion in the city.

As well as his iconic images of Manchester’s Hacienda nightclub, Peter captured the spirit of the era, as well as the many faces, bands and fashions that graced the city during those pivotal years.

Peter’s work has been published and exhibited worldwide including British Culture Archive’s exhibition The People’s City.

About the Image

Discussing this print in an interview with Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music Bob recalled: “We used to go to The Hacienda a lot back then, Manchester treated us well. It was a great place and the atmosphere was amazing. Vic was always looking dapper and I was wearing my Duffer of St George cardigan that I bought from their shop in Soho, it was the first piece of expensive clothing I ever bought!
