Rab G P Lewin | UK, 1980s

Rab GP Lewin is a neurodiverse photographer based in Ardnamurchan, Scotland. Having lived in many countries, his photography documents a life lived, rather than merely being observed. Lewin’s introduction to photography came through a basic multimedia course he took in Edinburgh in 1985.

Photography has since become the perfect medium for his transient lifestyle, enabling him to create and document on the move. His work has been published internationally by Vice, the Smithsonian Institute, Billboard Magazine, and others. He has also contributed photography to the second edition of Ted Polhemus’s “Streetstyle” and, more recently, restored vintage photography for Ian Chapman’s “OK Boomer: New Zealand in the Swinging Sixties”. Resipole Studios published his first solo publication, “Off Limits: Berlin-Europe 1992-96,” a social documentation of the free techno party movement, in 2021.

SUPPORT BCA

British Culture Archive is an independent archive and cultural resource that was set up through a genuine passion for photography. Since 2017, we have supported British photography by publishing and exhibiting works from photographers and by unearthing and giving a global platform to previously unseen photography.

Our online galleries and exhibitions will always be free for everyone. Public support and funding is vital for us to continue documenting and preserving important photography. If you appreciate the work we do, please consider making a donation through the link provided below.
