Steve Hunt | Unity Festival, Manchester, 1994

Photographs taken by Steve Hunt at the UNITY anti-racism festival in Chorlton Park, Manchester in 1994.

The Unity Organising Group was formed that year in response to increased racial violence in the UK, which included the murder of Stephen Lawrence. Their festivals celebrate diversity and promote inclusive communities.

The images featured in the gallery are from the inaugural festival, which showcased performances by New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Kaliphz, Lemn Sissay, and Johnny Dangerously. The compere on the day was the late Anthony H Wilson.
