Nic Salmon is a British photographer, artist and musician born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. He studied photography at Trent Polytechnic and Derby College of Art and Technology during the 1970s.
Salmon’s black-and-white photographs document Scunthorpe during the early 1980s. His work includes portraits of young people connected to the town’s alternative music scene, life at Scunthorpe United’s Old Showground, live music and demonstrations over the future of the steel industry.
Decades after making his Scunthorpe portraits, Salmon rediscovered the original negatives and returned to photograph several of the sitters. The resulting project, 35 Years On, was exhibited at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Scunthorpe in 2021–22.
Nic Salmon is represented by British Culture Archive.
