Tony Davis is best known for his photographs of the early 1990s rave scene and British football culture. Working from within the worlds he photographed, he documented club nights, dancefloors, football grounds and supporter life with directness and familiarity, building a body of work that now stands as an important record of British subculture at ground level.
From venues such as Shelley’s, the Eclipse and the Marcus Garvey Centre to terraces and stadiums across the UK, Davis’s pictures hold the energy, style and atmosphere of the time without overstating it.
