Red Saunders | Wigan Casino, 1976

In 1976, Red Saunders documented the Northern Soul Scene for ‘The Sunday Times’ magazine. He took his camera to the legendary Wigan Casino and captured the casino in all its glory.

Red “It was a priceless assignment – a story about Northern Soul and specifically the Wigan Casino. The article was written by one of my favourite writers on the magazine, Gordon Burn. At that time, “Keep the Faith” was the manifesto, with R&B lovers and multi-racial dancing happening all weekend long.”
