Cities in the Park was the first outdoor music festival held in Manchester. The two-day festival took place on the 3rd and 4th of August, 1991 at Heaton Park. Bands that played included A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Happy Mondays and Electronic. The festival was held in celebration of Factory Records producer Martin Hannett, who had died in April of that year.
