British Culture Archive licensed selected photographs by Alex Hurst for Curly Blows, Cuts and Curlers, a photographic display at Museum of Liverpool.
Presented in the museum’s Skylight Gallery, the display explored Liverpool’s relationship with hair, from salons and barbershops to personal style, identity and community. Alex Hurst’s photographs were shown alongside work by Abdullah Badwi, Paul Trevor and The Caravan Gallery.
The project reflects BCA’s growing role as a licensing route for museums, galleries and cultural organisations working with British documentary photography. It also highlights the continued relevance of Alex Hurst’s work as a record of everyday life, local identity and social history in Liverpool.
BCA manages licensing for selected works across its archive, supporting institutions with image research, permissions, high-resolution files and rights clearance.
