George Wilson studied Documentary Photography at Newport under David Hurn. After graduating, he moved to Kent and took a summer job as a bingo caller at Cain’s Amusements on Herne Bay seafront.
Wilson worked at Cain’s during 1981 and 1982, photographing the people he met there. Although the games and machines are ever-present, his subject was the daily life of the arcade and the people who spent time there.
The series is Wilson’s best-known work. British Culture Archive licenses the photographs and publishes selected images as limited-edition prints.
