About The Photographer

Debby Besford is an established social documentary photographer whose work spans over 25 years, exploring identity, community, and British cultural life. Her extensive portfolio includes personal projects and commissioned assignments featured in national newspapers, magazines, and touring exhibitions across the UK.

About The Work

From The Scooter Reunion, one of Besford’s defining early series. Produced during the May Bank Holiday rallies in Great Yarmouth, the work documents Mods, Skinheads, and Rockers travelling from across the country to gather around a shared culture of scooters, music, and style.

Photographed on the streets and seafront, the series focuses on youth identity and self-expression, from customised Vespas and Lambrettas to clothing, hairstyles, and group rituals. The photographs capture both the energy of the events and the sense of camaraderie and belonging that defined these gatherings.

All British Culture Archive prints and editions are supplied unframed and include a white border around the image. Border widths vary according to the proportions of each photograph.

If a mount is used, ask your framer to ensure that the full image, signature and edition details remain visible. A professional framer can advise on suitable archival mounting, glazing and frame options. Prints may also be framed without a mount.

All British Culture Archive prints and editions are inspected and securely packaged before dispatch. Smaller prints are sent flat, while larger prints are rolled and sent in sturdy fine art tubes.

Orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked and are normally delivered within 3–7 working days. Tracking details are provided once your order has been dispatched.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible at contact@britishculturearchive.co.uk, including your order number and photographs where appropriate. We will arrange a replacement or refund and cover any reasonable return costs.

If you change your mind, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. You then have a further 14 days to return it. Prints should be unmarked and securely packaged. Return postage for change-of-mind returns is the customer’s responsibility, and we recommend retaining proof of postage.

Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days of receiving the returned item or evidence that it has been sent. The original standard delivery charge will also be refunded where required.
